Blimmi is a couples app that helps partners learn more about each other and plan meaningful surprises. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights around it.
Information we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, date of birth, country, and optionally your gender and a profile photo. We also collect preferences you set in the app, such as dietary restrictions and interest categories.
When you use the app, we store the missions you create, the questions you answer, your notification preferences, and a history of in-app notifications sent to you. If you submit feedback, we collect the message and any images you attach, along with your device model, OS version, and app version to help us reproduce and fix issues. Your user ID and email are also included so we can follow up if needed.
We do not collect your precise or GPS location or your contacts. The only device-level data we collect is your push notification token and, when you submit feedback, your device model, OS version, and app version.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account
- Generate personalised questions for you based on your profile and interests
- Share relevant information with your partner within the app — including your name, profile photo, question answers, AI-generated category summaries, and personalised insights derived from your answers. Your partner can see this information about you, just as you can see the equivalent information about them
- Send push notifications about app activity
- Generate personalised summaries and insights from your answers
- Show ads within the app
- Diagnose crashes and fix bugs
Your partner can see when you have answered a question. We do not sell your personal information. We share your device's advertising identifier with Google AdMob solely to serve ads within the app — we do not build advertising profiles from your personal data. California residents may opt out of this sharing; see the Advertising section for instructions.
Third-party services
Blimmi uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate. These services process only the data needed to fulfil their function.
- Firebase (Google) — handles authentication, stores profile pictures, and delivers push notifications. Processes your email, authentication tokens, device push token, and any profile images you upload.
- Sentry — receives crash reports and error diagnostics to help us fix bugs. May include device type, OS version, app state, and your user ID at the time of a crash.
- Google AdMob — serves ads within the app. See the Advertising section below for details.
- Google — if you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email with us under their own privacy policy.
- Apple — if you sign in with Apple, Apple shares your name and email with us under their own privacy policy.
- Gmail (Google) — when you submit feedback, the message and any attached images are emailed to our team via Gmail. The email includes your user ID and email address so we can follow up if needed.
- LangSmith (LangChain) — receives traces of AI calls made when generating your insights and summaries. These traces include the question answers and profile information sent to our AI models, and are used solely to monitor and debug AI quality. LangSmith's use of this data is governed by the LangChain Privacy Policy.
AI-generated content
Blimmi uses Google Gemini to generate personalised insights, category summaries, and mission recommendations. To do this, your question answers and profile information are sent to Google for processing. This data is used solely to generate your results and is not used to train AI models or shared for any other purpose. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising
Blimmi shows ads via Google AdMob. On iOS, we ask for your permission before allowing personalised ads. You can change this at any time in your device's privacy settings. On Android, you can opt out of personalised ads in your Google account settings.
Data security
Sensitive information such as your email address and date of birth is encrypted at rest. All data in transit is protected by HTTPS. We use short-lived authentication tokens and automatic session expiry to keep your account secure.
Your choices
You can update your profile photo, country, and interest categories at any time in the app. You can control which notifications you receive in Settings. You can permanently delete your account from within the app — this removes all your data and your couple's shared data immediately.
Personalised ads: Blimmi shows ads via Google AdMob. On iOS, you can manage ad tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android, you can opt out in your Google account under Settings → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation.
Children's privacy
Blimmi is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. We will notify you in-app when we do and update the effective date above.
